Lakes and waterfalls to discover in the Vosges

If you’re a keen hiker, walker and sightseer, how about discovering the Hautes Vosges in all its glory?

If you’re visiting our region on a sunny day and would like to take a dip, there are several options open to you.

Swimming is possible in Lac de Géradmer, Lac de Xonrupt Longemer and Lac de la Mauselotte.

We recommend Lac de Xonrupt, where you’ll need a car to get there, but where you’ll find picnic tables and plenty of room for the whole family to set up shop. As on Lac de Gérardmer, you can walk around the lake and enjoy a pedal-boat break.

For families in search of gentle strolls

From the campsite, it’s possible to walk around Lake Gérardmer. It’s a lovely walk between forest and water, lasting 2h30 round trip. This walk is not accessible by bike or baby carriage, as part of it takes place on the rocky banks of the lake.

The Xonrupt lake also offers a gentle one-and-a-half-hour stroll. The terrain is accessible on foot, by bike and even in baby carriages.

A little further away in the forest, the Lispach peat bog is a great place to go in summer for its coolness, in autumn for its atmosphere and in winter with snowshoes for its stunning scenery.

For calves that have warmed up a bit more, there are a few lakes that will blow you away.

Lac Blanc, just 40 minutes from the campsite, offers breathtaking views over the Alsace valley.

The Four Lakes hike lets you discover the local flora and fauna on this 17km trail.

Waterfalls near the campsite

The high Vosges mountains abound with waterfalls of all kinds. Whether you’re a hiker, a lover of beautiful scenery or just a family outing, you’ll find plenty to enjoy a quiet moment in the Vosges forest.

If you leave directly from the campsite, you can discover the Mérelle waterfall or the Saut de la bourrique (for hikes starting from the campsite, see our dedicated article here). If you choose to drive a little further, you can discover the Saut du bouchot, the Tendon waterfalls, the Pissoire waterfall and many more… We’ll be happy to give you more information at the campsite!
